  • Practice Slip Due:

Items to note this week, August 30 – September 3:

    Hello LMS Band parents:

Items to note this week, August 30 – September 3:

    • Practice slips are due September 13 for all bands!
Please encourage your child to be responsible for coming to you to get the slip signed, not the other way around!

    • The 6th grade bands are getting set and are very close to making some great sounds! If your child hasn’t yet secured an instrument and book, please make sure that happens as soon as possible.

    • The 7th and 8th grade bands are sounding amazing. They should be practicing the Bb, Eb, and Ab concert scales. They should also be practicing “Parade America” and “Takin’ Care of Business” (they will get this tomorrow as I just finished the arrangement last night). The bands will hopefully get more new pieces this week so there should be quite a bit of practicing going on at home.

    • 7th and 8th grade Jazz band will start on Tuesday, September 14 at 7:30am in the band room!

    • The Audition materials for Jr. All-State are available. If your 8th grader is interested in trying out for All-State please have them come talk to me and I will get them the information.

    • I am very excited for the new school year! There is a lot of enthusiasm in all grades and exactly 180 students in the band program here at LMS this year. I think you will be impressed with the caliber of the musicians you’ll hear at the concerts!!!

    Upcoming events:

October 21 This is our annual March in October Concert featuring the 7th/8th grade marching and concert bands. (7:30pm – LMS gymnasium)

October 23 The 7th/8th grade marching band will march in the UI Homecoming Parade in Moscow. (Saturday morning)

November 3 7th/8th Jazz Band will perform at the WSU Jazz Festival (school day – Kimbrough Concert Hall)

Thank you for your support of the LMS Bands!
