Items to note this week, November 22 – November 26:
Practice slips are due Monday – November 29! – 40% of the grade!
There were questions this past week about Thanksgiving break and practicing.
It is not required to practice over Thanksgiving break but it is strongly encouraged! There have been times when students return from break and haven’t played at all which puts us a little bit behind when getting ready for our winter concert. If at all possible, it is my hope that the students will play at least a little each day. Perhaps you as parents could ask them to put on a little concert for you! Any practicing done over the break can be counted as extra credit and turned on a separate practice slip on Monday, November 29 as well.
As for this past week’s practice time (November 15 – 19) – this practice slip should be turned in on Monday, November 29. (recorded on a different practice slip than that of the extra credit time done over break).
This practice guide should be read by both parents and students! A truly helpful tool for setting goals for musical advancement!Â
Congratulations to the 7th grade concert band for your great performance for the Healthy Living lunch provided for parents last Thursday! You all are awesome!!!
6th grade Band:Â Â (FYI – Our first concert is on Tuesday, December 14)
Try working as far ahead in your book as you can get. Remember to always play with a good tone and great rhythm!!! There is a real nice solo on page 34 in your book that you should start working on.
Pieces to practice: “First Concert March”, “Holiday Sampler”, “March of the Spartans”, “Eagle Summit March”, “Intensity†& “Affirmationâ€.
You will play the first four listed above for the winter concert on Tuesday, December 14. Be sure to have black and white concert clothing.
