    Practice slips are due Monday – December 6! – 40% of the grade!

    This practice guide should be read by both parents and students!  A truly helpful tool for setting goals for musical advancement! 

    This is CONCERT WEEK!
    All bands will perform at the annual Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 14 at 7:30pm in the LMS Gymnasium.  Students need to be at LMS ready to go at 7pm for warm-up and tuning.  Be sure to wear black and white!
    Who:  All LMS Bands
    What:  LMS Winter Band Concert
    Where:  LMS Gymnasium
    When:  Concert starts at 7:30pm – students at LMS no later than 7pm
    Wear:  Concert Clothing (Black and White)

    6th grade Band:
    Try working as far ahead in your book as you can get.  Remember to always play with a good tone and great rhythm!!! There is a real nice solo on page 34 in your book that you should start working on.
    Pieces to practice: “First Concert March”, “Holiday Sampler”, “March of the Spartans”, “Eagle Summit March”, “Intensity” & “Affirmation”.
    You will play the first four listed above for the winter concert on Tuesday.  Be sure to have black and white concert clothing.

    7th and 8th grade Bands:
    7th – Parade of the Tin Soldiers, Fireburst Fanfare, The Great American Frontier, Christmas Canon
    8th – Cantique De Noel, Forest Brook Overture, The Impossible Machine & Caribbean Christmas

    7th/8th Jazz Band I:  The students have four pieces to be working on “I Can’t Stop Lovin’ You”, “Pico De Gallo”, “Do Nothin’ ’til You Hear From Me”, “Heat Miser”, “Jingle Bells”, “Angels We’ve Heard” & “Drum Boogie”.  Sound clips are available on our website for most of the pieces as well.
    We will perform “Heat Miser” & “Angels We’ve Heard” on the winter concert.

    *** Please show up at 7:20am on Thursday this week as the phenomenal Grammy Award winning bassist, composer, arranger John Clayton will visit our class and work with our group for an hour.  This is an incredible honor. – Read about him here – http://www.johnclaytonjazz.com/

    7th/8th Jazz Band II:  The students should be working on these pieces – “Steam Shuffle”, “Discover the Blues”, “Tricky Sticks” & “One Eyed Jack”.

    Your child is able to earn up to 100 extra credit points for attending a concert and typing a critique.
