Items to note this week, April 11 – April 15:

    Hello LMS Band parents/students:

Items to note this week, April 11 – April 15:

Practice slips are due Monday – April 11! – 40% of the grade!

Very Important! – The PEF Instrumental Dessert Fundraiser is Wednesday, April 13th from 6:30pm-8:00pm. I wanted to send out some information and a request regarding our PEF Instrumental Dessert Fundraiser next Wednesday, April 13th. (Flyer attached. Please print and put as many of these around as possible. Invite family, friends, neighbors!)

The 7th and 8th grade bands will perform for this event. The 7th grade band performs at 6:55pm and the 8th grade band performs at 7:15pm alone and then with the PHS band at 7:55pm to finish the night’s music together.

**I would like the 7th grade band members to be at LMS by 6:30pm for tuning and warm up. I would like the 8th grade band members to be at LMS by 6:45pm for tuning and warm up.

**Also, if each 8th grade student could bring a dozen baked items (e.g. cookies, brownies, cake, etc.) that would be much appreciated. The items can be brought to the school on Wednesday morning (the 13th) or can be brought before 6:30pm that evening so we can get the desserts plated. Items brought in the morning can be dropped off in the main office.

**Thanks so much for your help with this endeavor. This fundraiser greatly benefits the instrumental music department as it assists us in purchasing new instruments and repairing those we have.

**Please plan to come and have some dessert and listen to the performances. It doesn’t cost anything to come listen to the music. Dessert tickets are $5.

FYI – Later this month, the 7th and 8th grade Orchestra and 8th grade Band will perform for the Earth Day assembly. This assembly is Friday, April 22nd at 9:15am in the gym. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Students will need to wear their black and white concert clothing to school on the 22nd.

    6th grade Concert Band:
(You ALL need to be sure to sign up for 7th Grade Band when the forms come out from Mrs. Cartwright!!! – You’re AWESOME and need to continue next year!)

The rest of the week will work through more pages in the book and start working on more music for our next concert in May. This week’s test is over #9 on page 37, percussion 21-22. Accent on Scales and the solo page should be played too!

Work really hard to get “Sousa Spectacular” and “Cyberspace Overture” down cold!

**Please plan to come and have some dessert and listen to the performances from the 7th/8th grade bands & orchestra along with the PHS concert band at the annual LMS Instrumental Fundraiser and Dessert. It doesn’t cost anything to come listen to the music but we would love for you to purchase a dessert ticket for $5.

FYI – We won’t be able to perform this year for the Pullman Community Garden Spring Fair. Mr. Covill will let you know if there will be any other performances besides the concert on May 19.

    6th grade Jazz Band:
This band is open to all 6th grade band students and meets on Mondays and Fridays to get ready for our concert on May 19. We’re off to a great start! Practice “Switch-a-Roonie”, “Willo’ Wisp”, “Time to Go” and “Leap Frog”.

    7th grade Concert Band:
(You ALL need to be sure to sign up for 8th Grade Band when the forms come out from Mrs. Cartwright!!! – You’re AWESOME and need to continue next year!)

Continue working on Windemere Overture, Aladdin, John Williams Trilogy, Talons of Fire, – You have other music already and we will continue to work on those pieces as well. You will not have a test this week.

    8th grade Concert Band:
Continue working on Epiphany, Canadian Trilogy (we will perform this with the high school band at the dessert fundraiser – April 13), Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Lion King, Rites of Tamburo – You have other music already and we will continue to work on those pieces. You will not have a test this week.

    7th/8th Jazz Band I:
Work on “Leap Frog”, “In the Mood”, “Doctor Cool”, “Swing Machine” and “Tuxedo Junction”. I will see about more of the older swing style charts. Great job everyone!!
