    Items to note this week, April 18 – April 22:

    Practice slips are due Monday – April 18! – 40% of the grade!

    WOW! A huge thank you to the 7th and 8th grade concert bands for their wonderful performances last Wednesday for the annual PEF Dessert/Fundraiser! Also thank you to all of the 8th graders for bringing a dessert for this function. We had a great night and brought in a little over $1100 which will be used for new instrument purchases and repair of old instruments as well.

    FYI – Friday, April 22 (this week), the 7th and 8th grade Orchestra and 8th grade Band will perform for the Earth Day assembly. This assembly is at 9:15am in the gym. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Students will need to wear their black and white concert clothing to school on the 22nd.

    6th grade Concert Band:
    (You ALL need to be sure to sign up for 7th Grade Band when the forms come out from Mrs. Cartwright!!! – You’re AWESOME and need to continue next year!)
    Jazz Appreciation Month = More Listening!!!
    This week we will work through more pages in the book and start working on more music for our next concert in May. This week’s test is over #9 on page 37, percussion 21-22. Accent on Scales and the solo page should be played too!
    Work really hard to get “Sousa Spectacular” and “Cyberspace Overture” down cold!

    FYI – We won’t be able to perform this year for the Pullman Community Garden Spring Fair. Mr. Covill will let you know if there will be any other performances besides the concert on May 19.

    6th grade Jazz Band:
    This band is open to all 6th grade band students and meets on Mondays and Fridays to get ready for our concert on May 19. We’re off to a great start! Practice “Switch-a-Roonie”, “Willo’ Wisp”, “Time to Go” and “Leap Frog”.

    7th grade Concert Band:
    (You ALL need to be sure to sign up for 8th Grade Band when the forms come out from Mrs. Cartwright!!! – You’re AWESOME and need to continue next year!)

    Continue working on Aladdin, John Williams Trilogy – You have other music already and we will continue to work on those pieces as well. Your test piece this week will be over counting. I will let you know on Monday what that will be over.

    8th grade Concert Band:

    Continue working on Epiphany, Canadian Trilogy, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Lion King, Rites of Tamburo – You have other music already and we will continue to work on those pieces. Your test piece this week will be over counting. I will let you know on Monday what that will be over.

    7th/8th Jazz Band I:
    Work on “Leap Frog”, “In the Mood”, “Doctor Cool”, “Swing Machine” and “Tuxedo Junction”. I will see about more of the older swing style charts. Great job everyone!!
