    Items to note this week, April 25 – April 29:

    Practice slips are due Monday – April 25! – 40% of the grade!

    This practice guide should be read by both parents and students! A truly helpful tool for setting goals for musical advancement!

    CONGRATULATIONS to the 8th grade concert band and saxophone quintet on a wonderful performance on Friday for the annual LMS Earth Day Assembly! You all sounded great!! Also, thank you to the parents who attended. Your support is awesome!!!  If anyone took pictures of the assembly, specifically the band portion, I would love to see them.

    6th grade Concert Band:
    (You ALL need to be sure to sign up for 7th Grade Band when the forms come out from Mrs. Cartwright!!! – You’re AWESOME and need to continue next year!)
    Last week of Jazz Appreciation Month = More Listening – Cool, Hard Bop, Eclectic, Free!!!This week we will work through more pages in the book and start working on more music for our next concert in May. Each section will receive another piece kind of like Dona Nobis Pacem to practice. This week’s test is over #7 on page 38, percussion 23-24. Accent on Scales and the solo page should be played too!

    6th grade Jazz Band:
    Practice “Switch-a-Roonie”, “Willo’ Wisp”, “Time to Go” and “Leap Frog”.

    7th grade Concert Band:

    Continue working on Equinox, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Lion King, Rites of Tamburo – Your test piece this week will be from the counting sheet. I will let you know on Monday which number specifically.

    7th/8th Jazz Band I:
    Work on “Woodchoppers Ball”, “Leap Frog”, “In the Mood”, “Doctor Cool”, “Swing Machine” and “Tuxedo Junction”. I will see about more of the older swing style charts. Great job everyone!!
