    Hello LMS Band parents/students:

Items to note this week, April 4 – April 8:

Practice slips are due Monday – April 4! – 40% of the grade!

FYI – The PEF Instrumental Dessert Fundraiser is Wednesday, April 13th from 6:30-8:00. More information will be forthcoming regarding which groups are performing, etc. Please plan to come and have dessert and support our instrumental music instrument purchase and repair fund.

FYI – Later this month, the 7th and 8th grade Orchestra and 8th grade Band will perform for the Earth Day assembly. This assembly is Friday, April 22nd at 9:15am in the gym. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Students will need to wear their black and white concert clothing to school on the 22nd.

    6th grade Concert Band:
(You ALL need to be sure to sign up for 7th Grade Band when the forms come out from Mrs. Cartwright!!! – You’re AWESOME and need to continue next year!)

The rest of the week will work through more pages in the book and start working on more music for our next concert in May. This week’s test is over #8 on page 37. Also, start working on the chromatic scale at the bottom of page 37. Accent on Scales and the solo page should be played too!

Work really hard to get “Sousa Spectacular” and “Enchanted Wizard” down cold!

Keep all of the pieces we have played this year (with the exception of the winter holiday pieces) in your folder so we can perform them at the Pullman Community Garden Spring Fair!

    6th grade Jazz Band:
This band is open to all 6th grade band students and meets on Mondays and Fridays to get ready for our concert on May 19. We’re off to a great start! Practice “Switch-a-Roonie”, “Willo’ Wisp” & “Time to Go”.

    7th grade Concert Band:
(You ALL need to be sure to sign up for 8th Grade Band when the forms come out from Mrs. Cartwright!!! – You’re AWESOME and need to continue next year!)

Continue working on Windemere Overture, Aladdin, Miniature Overture, Talons of Fire, Fireburst Fanfare – You have other music already and we will continue to work on those pieces as well. This week’s test is over the chromatic scale one octave from your low concert Bb.

    8th grade Concert Band:
Continue working on Canadian Trilogy (we will perform this with the high school band at the dessert fundraiser – April 13), Harry Potter, Lion King, Forest Brook Overture – You have other music already and we will continue to work on those pieces.
