  • Practice Slip Due:

Items to note this week! September 4 – September 7

    Hello LMS Band parents/students:

Items to note this week, September 4 – September 7:

    • Practice slips are due September 4th for 7th & 8th grade bands! 6th grade first practice slip is due September 10th.

Please encourage your child to be responsible for coming to you to get the slip signed, not the other way around! 100 minutes per week is required!

    • Always visit www.lmsmusic.org for lots of information about the LMS Band Program

    • The 6th grade bands start keeping track of practice time this week. I’m sending home a “How to Practice” guide with the students. If they misplace it, please read through this one – http://dev-lms-band.audibleim.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/How-To-Practice-Properly.pdf

Please take a look at it with them. The students are making some great sounds! If your child hasn’t yet secured an instrument and book, please make sure that happens as soon as possible.

    • The 7th and 8th grade bands are sounding GREAT. They should be practicing the Chorales 1 & 2, Honor March, Sousa Sousa Sousa, March Del Mar and have memorized Parade America and Party Rock Anthem.

    • 7th and 8th grade Jazz band will start on Tuesday, September 11th at 7:30am in the band room! This band is open to any and all 7th and 8th grade band students. We meet throughout the school year on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

    • The Audition materials for Jr. All-State are available. If your 8th grader is interested in trying out for All-State please have them talk to me and I will get them the information this week. I will try to have a link to the information on our web site soon.

    • I am very excited for the new school year! There is a lot of enthusiasm in all grades and exactly 216 students in the band program here at LMS this year. I think you will be impressed with the caliber of the musicians you’ll hear at the concerts!!!
